After you sent a money transfer with Western Union, you find that you have to change the recipient’s name. You can do this while the transfer has not been paid to the original recipient.
Gather the following information from the documents you received when you requested the money transfer: the transfer control number, the name of the recipient, the country of residence, the amount of money transferred and the date of shipment.
Call Western Union at your customer service and tell the representative that you need to change the recipient’s name on your transfer.
Give the information to the customer service representative and write the confirmation information that the representative gives you.
Only the person who sends the money can make the change in a money transfer with Western Union.
There may be cases in which Western Union makes a return and asks the sender to make a new money transfer.
